Samsung HMX-R10 Ergonomic Camcorder

The Samsung HMX R10 can records full-HD movies and snap high-resolution still images, but what we really like about it is that it tries to set the bar higher when it comes to camcorder ergonomics. We have tried many models over the years and often, handling a camcorder hasn’t been our best experience with an imaging device. Samsung tried to change this with the HMX-R10 by changing the way people hold the camcorder. From the photo, it’s quite obvious that the grip seems more natural. But we will need to see it in action before drawing any conclusions. Available this summer.

SAMSUNG VM-HMX20C

Next generation MediaRecently, the Blue-ray became the winner of a war of next generation media by declaring defeat of the HD-DVD. It means Full-HD period has already started. In the LCD TV market, Full-HD products already occupied the market, and various products including projectors are coming out with the title of Full-HD.

SAMSUNG VM-HMX20C

The most important thing in camcorders and cameras is picture quality. (No matter how the design is good, if the picture quality can’ satisfy users, it will not be popular) Recently, not only the picture quality, the portability has become one the most important things. (A little while ago, I helped a friend buy DSLR, and he thought the portability as the very important thing. Its size is a half of my D2X, and he was very satisfied with various functions and the picture quality.)
This Samsung VM-HMX20C is an upgraded version the HMX20, it supports 1920x1080 resolution Full HD, and many functions have been added, so it’s enough to record special videos. (This has many functions such as music slide, still image, slow motion, and face recognition)Can this product satisfy users with picture quality, design, function, and performance? Because there are so many things to test, I’m a little nervous, but expecting much. Let’s take a look at it with review

The meaningful successor of the VM-HMX10A/C

The meaningful successor of the VM-HMX10A/C
Samsung’s new released VM-HMX20C is a camcorder for HD video. The spread of the internet made digital cameras expanding everywhere. It’s still going on, and about a year ago, it seems digital camcorders have taken the position instead.
Big companies all over the world have made digital camcorders, and the key point has been a small size and light weight. Good portability and easy use to make UCC became a trend. However, now users don’t want just ‘a small camcorder’, but a great quality camcorder, so they are trying to develop it.The high quality video represented with ‘HD format’ becomes the most important thing of camcorders. With HD broadcasting, spreading high quality displays and LAN, and improvement of computers and codec, HD became familiar. HD is not for professionals any more, but for normal people, I think. Sony, Sanyo, and JVC which are the leaders of camcorders started to release HD products (for consumers not for professionals), and Samsung became one of them with releasing VM-HMX10A (4GB) and VM-HMX10C (8GB) last year. The VM-HMX20C (20C) released this time is the following model of the VM-HMX10C (10C).

SAMSUNG WB500 introduces 24mm ultra-wide angle mega-zoom

LAS VEGAS, N.V., January 7, 2009 – Samsung’s new WB500 (USA : HZ10W) is a compact, 10.2 mega‑pixel digital camera that takes wide-angle to a new level. Featuring an ultra-wide angle 24mm Schneider lens, the WB500 (USA : HZ10W) goes beyond the 28mm wide‑angle focal length offered by other manufacturers while adding a powerful 10x optical zoom with telephoto capabilities of 240mm (35mm film equivalent). Opportunities to enhance one’s creativity thrive thanks to the wider focal length offered by the WB500 (USA : HZ10W)’s ultra-wide angle, 24mm lens. With the ability to fit more of a desired scene into the shot, users no longer have to worry about asking a group of people to stand closer together to make sure everyone is in the photo.

Users can also capture even more impressive landscape images, communicating the full beauty of a mountain range or even cityscape, as they see it, without having to decide what to exclude when pressing the shutter button. The WB500 (USA : HZ10W)’s 240mm (35mm film equivalent) telephoto zoom also allows users to be more creative and flexible when they shoot, adding peace of mind knowing that they can rely on the camera to help them capture the image they want, at any distance. Such a long zoom is ideal for sporting events, especially when far away from the action, or travel, when unable to determine what shooting scenario you may find yourself in. For added stability and blur-free images, especially when using the WB500 (USA : HZ10W) at its maximum zoom, Samsung has incorporated both Optical and Digital Image Stabilization. The shooter has the option of simply using Optical Image Stabilization to help reduce blur caused by hand shake, ideal for well‑lit environments, or choosing Dual Image Stabilization and combining the strengths of Optical and Digital Image Stabilization. Dual Image Stabilization is ideal for low-light environments where the use of a flash is not desired as it activates both forms of stabilization simultaneously.

For shooters who wish to be in more control when it comes to taking digital images, the WB500 (USA : HZ10W) offers a host of manual controls. Users can manually configure shutter speed, from 16 ~ 1/1,500 seconds, as well as adjust focus and aperture settings. Users can also dial in exposure in 1/3EV steps at a maximum of ±2EV and select a desired ISO value with options of 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, and even 3200 at a reduced resolution of three mega-pixels.The WB500 (USA : HZ10W) also incorporates Samsung’s proprietary Smart Album program. Smart Album is useful tool which allows users to search through the various files they have saved on their memory card for a specific image.

Smart Album automatically organizes the user’s digital images and gives them the ability to narrow their search based on the date or month the image was taken, the file type, whether it’s a photo, video, or voice memo, and the overall color tone. “The mega-zoom WB500 (USA : HZ10W) is one of the most feature-rich digital cameras in Samsung’s wide‑ranging family of digital imaging products,” said SeungSoo Park, vice president of Sales and Marketing for Digital Imaging, at Samsung Electronics America. “The camera addresses demands in the marketplace, not only for longer zooms, but for wider focal lengths as well. Such powerful optics, combined with other advanced features like the ability to record HD video, will undoubtedly make the WB500 (USA : HZ10W) an attractive model for anyone in the market for a new digital camera.”

The WB500 (USA : HZ10W) gives shooters the ability to capture video in 720p high-definition at 30 frames-per-second (fps). Thanks to H.264 compression, users can record video for longer periods of time, allowing them to better utilize the remaining memory capacity on their SD or SDHC memory card. Shooters can utilize Optical Image Stabilization and the camera’s 10x optical zoom while recording video, as well as Samsung’s Successive Recording mode, which allows the user to pause and then resume filming without having to save the clips as individual files.

Samsung NV100HD review

When your local pub starts advertising 'Credit Crunch Lunches' (it's true!), you know times are hard. But maybe you're not quite ready to give up on life's little luxuries just yet? Maybe you still hanker after a state-of-the-art metal-bodied 14.7-megapixel touch-screen compact with an HD movie mode? Co-incidentally, that's just what Samsung's £170 NV100HD has to offer.
PositivesSamsung's compacts haven't always been the prettiest, but this one's a big step forward. It comes in four different colours, and the red version is particularly striking. The matte metal finish looks and feels classy, and round the back the ugly black buttons of Samsung's Smart Touch control system -- used on the NV24HD, for example -- are gone. The NV100HD uses a new Smart Touch 2.0 system that uses a touch-sensitive 3-inch screen instead. And it's quite a screen. 460,000 pixels make it super-sharp, and it's really bright and vibrant too.
Because all the adjustments are made using the touch-screen, the back of the camera is really clean, with just four buttons -- two for zooming, one to activate the menus and one for playback mode.
Smart Touch 2.0 is a big improvement, too. The previous system used a barmy triangulation system for displaying and activating menu choices via buttons which were far too light. This one's a lot more conventional and easier to operate.
Round the front you get a wideangle 3.6x zoom equivalent to a focal range of 28-102mm, while on the top is a power button, shutter release and mode dial. There are a couple more nice surprises here, including a Manual mode where you can adjust the shutter speed and aperture yourself and a 1280 x 720 HD movie mode.
Gadget fans will be impressed by the face-detection, blink-detection and smile-detection features, and if your portrait subjects have got faces like emery boards, the Beauty Shot function can smooth them over automatically.
The NV100HD's zoom is quite slow, but the AF is excellent and rivals the speed of Sony's CyberShot compacts, previously clear leaders compared to the rest.
NegativesWhile the NV100HD is smart, it can't work miracles. Spec-hungry punters will gobble up the 14.7-megapixel resolution, but it's just too much in a sensor this size. The colours are great, but even at ISO 100 the camera's noise reduction system is smoothing over some fine textures, and by maximum ISO it looks like your pictures have been printed on blotting paper.
The HD movie mode's a disappointment too. The resolution's not bad (better than VGA, anyway), but if you insist on walking about while you're shooting, the camera's footage is so jerky it's almost unwatchable.
The touch-screen interface can be a bit of a pain, too. It's all right if you've got delicate little fingers and a patient disposition, but fat-thumbed fumblers will find it's a bit slow, vague and error-prone.
ConclusionYes, there's too much noise reduction, the movie mode's not great and the interface can be awkward, but these are all par for the course with super-slim, super-sexy compacts. What's striking about the Samsung is its elegance, its neatness and, most of all, its price. Why would you need to pay more?

SAMSUNG’S NX SERIES, HYBRID DIGITAL CAMERAS MAKE GLOBAL DEBUT AT PMA 2009

SEOUL, KOREA – March 2, 2009 – Samsung Digital Imaging Co., Ltd. used PMA 2009 as the global launching pad for the NX Series, the company’s revolutionary new family of hybrid digital cameras. A new concept digital camera, the NX Series offers the performance and image quality of a DSLR and the portability and convenience of a compact point-and-shoot. With the NX Series, Samsung will become a global leader in the new hybrid market.Samsung’s new NX Series bridges the gap between a DSLR and compact point-and-shoot digital camera by combining the benefits of both in one new model. Like conventional DSLRs, the NX Series utilizes an APS‑C sized image sensor providing a much larger surface area to gather light and produce higher-quality images than comparable digital camera systems. Unlike a DSLR, the NX Series does not feature a mirror box and employs an ultra-precise Electronic Viewfinder (EVF).The use of an EVF has allowed Samsung engineers to significantly reduce the size and weight of the new camera system by decreasing the distance between the lens and image sensor (flange back) by approximately 40% compared to traditional DSLRs. In addition to utilizing the EVF, consumers can also take advantage of the camera’s Live View functionality to frame their shots on the NX Series’ high‑resolution screen.Samsung has recently intensified its focus on the digital imaging market and established a separate company dedicated exclusively to digital imaging in Samsung Digital Imaging Company. The new company was formed to focus on the development of its digital still cameras around world’s first and best in class features, design, and easy-to-use interfaces, and will work towards achieving the company’s stated goal of becoming the world’s leading digital imaging company.“We estimate that the hybrid digital camera market will be over 20% of the global digital still camera market by 2012,” said Sang-jin Park, CEO of Samsung Digital Imaging Company. “With the release of the NX Series, a digital camera that combines the strengths of a DSLR and compact digital camera, Samsung Digital Imaging will become a global leader in the new hybrid digital camera market and achieve the company’s goal to become the global leader in the digital camera market by 2012.”Samsung Digital Imaging Company also creates a much more efficient vertical alignment between related Samsung affiliate business units including semiconductor, LCD panel and consumer electronics. This new vertical alignment will create competitive advantages for Samsung by fostering greater collaboration between Samsung affiliate business units and allowing the company to develop and deliver highly-innovative digital imaging products that set the standard for the industry, including the newly unveiled NX Series. The first model of NX Series will be available in the second-half of 2009.

Samsung WB500: Wide-boy superzoom

samsung has announced a superzoom compactcamerathat brings us the best of both worlds, in more ways than one: the 10-megapixel wb500. it's called the hz10w over here in the states, where we got our sticky fingers on it atces 2009.first off, the wb500 is trumpeted by samsung as the world's first model to combine 24mm wide angle with a 10x optical zoom. that means you can zoom in further, and zoom out wider, than any other compact. the 10x zoom puts the wb500 in the bottom end of the superzoom category, but it's way more pocketable than the average superzoom brick. so you get a versatile zoom and a compact package. lovely.you also get high-definition video, optical image stabilisation and smart scene recognition, all in a package that may be familiar to fans of thepanasonic lumix dmc-tz5. with the lumix g1 putting interchangeable lenses into a body the size of a superzoom, and samsung attempting to ape the success of the compact tz5, are we seeing the beginning of the end for longer-zoom superzooms?face detection is joined by the useful blink-detection feature, and the less useful smile mode. the vain will appreciate beauty shot, as also seen in casio cameras, which retouches faces for a brighter and smoother skin tone.another interesting new feature is the angle/composition guide. this allows you to snap a picture you want to be in, then hand the camera to someone else. your image is ghosted over the live view screen, so friend, policeman or random passer-by is sure to get the picture you want.the wb500 will cost £229 and will be available later this month, compete with two-year guarantee.

Samsung's HMX-R10 HD camcorder aims for April release

Samsung's devilishly cute HMX-R10 camcorder stole the hearts of many at CES, but ever since, we've been aimlessly wandering about Sammy's website attempting to locate clues on pricing and availability. Thankfully, it seems some answers are starting to surface, and we've only got a month or so before we discover whether these whispers were laced in truth. Reportedly, this pocket-friendly high-def camcorder will be hitting UK streets next month, with early estimates pegging the price at $550. We're told that Americans may have to wait until sometime this summer before they too can indulge, but at least the Britons will be able to test it out beforehand and give you a little heart-to-heart buying advice.

Samsung HMX-105,HMX-106 , HMX-104 and HMX-100 camcorders

Samsung camcorders : Samsung Electronics unveiles six new digital camcorders at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company further solidified its leadership in the high-definition category with the announcement of five new full-HD models and introduced its next generation YouTube compatible compact digital camcorder. Several of Samsung’s new camcorders introduced at CES 2009 are also among the first to feature internal, flash based Solid State Drives (SSD), providing higher capacity, and faster, more durable onboard memory. The Samsung H106 will be available in April 2009. The Samsung H105, Samsung H104, and Samsung H100 will be available in March 2009

Samsung HMX-106 camcorder based on SSDSamsung’s H-Series of full-HD digital camcorders set a new standard for style and performance. The Samsung HMX-H106, Samsung’s new flagship full-HD digital camcorder, is the world’s first to feature an internal 64GB SSD. Samsung’s renowned SSD technology offers a substantial advantage over the use of Hard Disk Drives (HDD) in a digital camcorder, providing consumers with higher performing and more durable internal memory. Samsung’s SSD technology is more lightweight and compact, operates silently with very low heat emission, and features no moving parts, which significantly reduces overall power consumption and enhances reliability. No moving parts also make SSD technology more durable and resistant to shock and vibrations. Additionally, Samsung’s SSD technology is faster than HDD, including quicker boot-up and read/write speeds which is required for the amount of data recorded in full-HD resolution. When actively reading and writing data, Samsung’s SSD technology consumes approximately 1/8th of the power of a comparable HDD.Samsung HMX-105, HMX-104 and HMX-100 camcorders The Samsung HMX-H105 and Samsung HMX-H104 offer 32GB and 16GB SSDs, respectively, and like the Samsung HMX-H106, also allow consumers to expand memory capacity using an SD/SDHC memory card. The Samsung HMX H100 does not feature an internal SSD and requires the use of a SD/SDHC memory card. The new H-Series full-HD digital camcorders also utilize H.264 compression, which significantly increases recording time. At full-HD resolution and when set to fine mode, users can record up to three hours directly to the 16GB HMX-H104, six hours to the 32GB HMX H105, and an unparalleled 12 hours to the 64GB HMX-H106.
