PROLOGUE - HAPTIC Digital Camera ST10 Design!

Looking at the line up of Samsung digital camera, I think they were quite successful. Great success of the NV100HD with the HD video and WB500. They were very successful strategy evaluating different markets and dividing them. This time, Samsung has released the ST10 from the ST series. ST means STYLE, so the slim size and sensitive design are impressive. We will take more time to see this, and in this review, I m going to look at the design of the ST10.

As you see, the slim and compact size is impressive as a stylish camera. There s nothing to burden with palm size and 16.6mm thickness. I could see the technology of Samsung by the size, in spite of the 3 inch LCD screen. Let s take a look at the design feature of the ST10 one by one.

Looking at the back of the ST10. there s a 3.0 inch LCD screen. Due to the LCD screen, there s no button except basic buttons. It s because the LCD screen has adopted the haptic touch screen LCD. Almost all the functions can be operated by touch, and dragging is also possible, so as a matter of face, all functions can be controlled by touch. As a feature of compact digital cameras, I didn t need to set or adjust detailed things, so I could set them through touch. If I get used to this, it will be faster to set, so I think the touch LCD will be useful. And the ST10 is not only a camera, but also a multimedia device with MP3 and PMP functions. The 3.0 inch LCD screen is good for videos. Of course, everything can be operated by the haptic touch technology.

As a stylish concept, they considered the lens cover very much. It s not a protruding lens type, but an inner zoom type, so it s much simpler. It s adopted the rotational lens cover, so you can close the lens cover when not using this, so it s more stylish and can keep the camera from dust. Especially, the lens cover is like a mirror, so it s very stylish, and the cover makes self shot easier. However, the biggest thing of the lens cover is the stylish design, and you will know if you see this camera actually.

The S10 supports the SD card. It has a space for SD card and battery together, and the cover can be conveniently open by one touch. From the picture above, you can see the very small space as a thickness except the battery and SD card. This shows the slimness of the ST10 again.

We ve been looking at the design of the ST10. Like I mentioned, the ST in the ST10 means STYLE, and also from the appearance, you might see they care much about the design. In the strong competition market, their strategy on design can be recognized as a great idea. The 9M pixel is not that good, but the ST10 with PMP and MP3 functions can appeal to young people who want multimedia digital cameras, I think. Especially, this will appeal to women who care much about design. In this review, I only mentioned design not functions. In the next review, I m going to look at the various functions of the ST10.

Haptic in digital camera? ST10 haptic meets digital camera

Now, Samsung digital camera has the haptic function. According to the trend of touch control, haptic product with vibration has been released. From this product, I think it will be easier to see the vibration function digital camera. Let s take a look at the first ST10. I m going to go over everything of the ST10, so please see carefully.

3 inch hVGA touch LCD, zoom, menu, and watch button are located. The Haptic function is in this hVGA LCD. We will go over this later.

It s the touch pen using with a line. It s unique design. You can operate with your hands, but it s vulnerable to fingerprint or something, you d better use the touch pen.

The feeling on the finger tip is great. For just touch screen, I didn t know if I touched it or not, so I think the vibration functions is needed for touch.

It s a common adaptor for Samsung digital camera. It s convenient, because cable is separate.

It s DATA cable when used separately. Connecting with the adaptor, it s used for a power cable.

What s better for you? There s a pink also, but I couldn t compare it together. Anyway, they are the most frequent colors, so please look at them. I think the black one is more elegant, but the silver has better 2 colors. However, I prefer the black one.
