Haptic digital camera ST10, substantial functions in slim and compact body

Along with “Haptic digital camera ST10, peeking at its design” written before, I’d like to look into features and functions of ST10, a new digital camera that combines Haptic effect and multimedia, this time.

It’s been 10 days since I started to use ST10. I’ve kept away Sony F828 which I’ve had used for a while, and only carried ST10 and tries many functions. Thanks to its slim and compact design, it was easy to carry. And what I liked the most was that it responded really fast as soon as I opened the lens cover.

Besides, it offers various multimedia functions so I could enjoy listening to music or reading books using text viewer while I was taking public transportation. Now let’s find out about ST10’s diverse and fun functions.

1. Design, as slim as a compact or a cigarette box

 

ST10 that fits right in one hand is as slims as women’s compact or men’s cigarette case. It comes in three colors (black, silver, and hot pink) so users can pick as they want and also has stylish design.

　

2. 3.0 inch hVGA touch screen that touches our senses

Along with clear and instinctive external interface, 3 inch hVGA touch screen makes it easier to shoot and check images. It also offers wide screen that is convenient enough for using multimedia functions. The sound and vibration of Haptic effect which you can feel when you touch menu icon stimulate our senses.

　

3. ST10’s specifications, menu, and functions

 

If we briefly take a look at ST10’s specifications, there’re lots of functions like 1/2.5" CCD, 9,000,000 pixels, x3 zoom, 460000-pixel hVGA TSP, AF, AE, Smart Face, DIS, and various setup modes. If you turn on its power and press menu button, items like basic functions, Haptic and sound, display, and camera setting appear on the screen like the image above. Then users can touch and change the setting as they want. Detailed functions are also made as icons, so any user can easily use the desired functions.

　

4. Various auto set shooting mode, great pictures for everyone

Most menu and shooting modes are made as icons in ST10, so anyone can easily operate it with instinctive interface. Only with selecting icons set, you can earn great pictures like professional without much difficulty. Also, you may set things in detail for each mode, so various photos can be produced depending on users’ capability.

　

5. ST10, enjoying multimedia with a digital camera

 

Unlike regular compact digital cameras, ST10 offers multimedia functions. In multimedia mode, you may play each downloaded file by operating music player, video player, or text viewer. MP3 is supported up to 320 Kbps, and video supports only the files converted by media converter. Korean text can be viewed only when you set the language Korean in text viewer setup menu. Of course ST10 supports various languages in camera setting, so if you set a basic language, every interface is changed into the language, causing no trouble. For your information, it’s efficient to manage contents by generating route domain for MP3, MOVIE, and TXT folders in ST10’s memory.

　

6. Beauty shot function, illuminating portrait shot for beginners

 

Portrait shots aren’t easy. Depending on the light source, it can be too dark or bright, and it may emphasize facial blemish or wrinkles. But if you use ST10’s Beauty shot function, you can produce great portrait shots like professional photographers. There are three levels, so users can choose one according to their style. It is hard to describe all the functions of ST10. I’ll talk more about the functions in the next review. Lastly, I’ll compare and contrast regular shots with images taken with built-in Beauty shot function. The left image is taken with regular portrait shooting mode, and the right one is taken with Beauty shot mode. You can easily see that it makes great portrait shots without using image editing tools like Photoshop. It is definitely an attractive function.
