Samsung Releases HMX-R10 … in Korea, Coming to US Soon

While we’re pretty certain that Samsung’s latest incarnation of a camcorder looks more like a tool a doctor would use (open wide…) or some type of extra-terrestrial bug than something that would actually record video, we are excited to say it’s coming and it’s coming soon. The Samsung HMX-R10 has already hit Korean shores and we have the dates for the US release.
The wall-eyed camera will be hitting US shelves in a little over a month, May 17th to be exact. Samsung says the 25-degree angle on their lens is actually a more natural shooting angle, but we’re not convinced. It makes it look different and we all know where that leads … but Samsung has packed this electronic ET with enough features to more than make us forget about its unique appearance. At only 12.5 cm long, the HMX-R10 takes 9MP stills and records video at 1920 x 1080. It has a 5x optical zoom and an electronically stabilized zoom lens with the unique angle.
It also has some cool special features like the ability to record in slow mo and a Magic Touch tool that automatically focuses on any point you touch. Sounds cool in theory, we’ll have to see how it pans out in a real life sitch. We don’t judge based on looks (most of the time) so we’re going to cautiously anticipate this release, and you can too.
